Men's and Women's Steel Toe Overshoes

Late June Blog
By George Kuropas

Late June Blog:

Dear Friends: Please excuse the delay in posting this Blog but June has been an extremely busy month both in Sales and other activities even more important.

WILKURO GOES GLOBAL

As most of you know, we have had for sometime representation in Europe (AKTA Trading),The UK (Merseyside), Mexico (Central de Suministros), Peru (Semark), Australia(Martor  and  Express Industrial Sales) and we have now added Equip SEC         in the Dominican Republic.

Please contact us if you require service from any of these fine representatives.

In areas where we do not have representatives, we had no choice but to sell directly and this included South Africa, China, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Japan and Brazil. We have also had orders through our reps into Chile and Argentina.

As well, we have many inquiries on a daily basis from the USA, Canada and Mexico and we are proud to say that we have superb coverage in all these areas.

What is truly gratifying is when a potential client calls from anywhere in the globe and he/she specifically requests the Wilkuro brand. This means a lot to us.

WILKURO SUPPORTS CHARITIES

Jack and I attended three golf tournaments that support various charities.

We believe that you can have fun, partake of a physically healthy activity and

at the same time help those less fortunate.

In early June we played at the Two/Ten Foundation of Canada Golf Tournament.

This is a charity whose motto is “Shoe People helping Shoe People”. It is the only industry that has its own charity to reach out to shoe people and their families to help out when there is a need for that help. Their bursary program  has been a vital assistance and a welcome encouragement for the sons and daughters of parents  working in shoe stores, factories and other sectors of the industry who want to pursue a dream of a higher education and need some help.

Every year, the Two/Ten Foundation of Canada donates between 35 and 40 thousand pairs of new boots and shoes to needy and deserving families across Canada.

In June 5 we helped to sponsor a Knights of Columbus Golf Tournament.

We were proud to be able to help the Knight of Columbus continue with their

Various charity endeavours and we have already pledged our support for the following year.

On June 21 we travelled to Woodstock, Ontario to partake in the first ever France-Anne Sweeny Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament.

Once again this is a really worthwhile cause in memory of France-Anne Sweeny, a

young and energetic person who passed away tragically following an equestrian accident. A first class tournament that collected over $42,000 for several charities

and the France-Anne Sweeny Foundation. We also look forward to participating

next year.

As  you can see, we have had a busy month but one filled with a sense of fulfilment and gratification.

If you wish to support any of these charities, please contact us for details.

May Update Part 2
By George Kuropas

MAY UPDATE PART 2

Dear friends, usually I try to write once a month to inform and  entertain  you, as well as, poke fun at the inept Inspector Clouseau of safety, none other than Ratprick M. Shyt. Well, I have to update you on yet another escapade by my business partner, Jack.

Jack went to the IAPA Show in Toronto. This is the Industrial Accident Prevention Association where several hundred exhibitors show  their  wares  to thousands of potential clients.

As Jack was making his way around the building he noticed one booth that had a pair of the safety toe overshoe, the one with the removable toe. Jack went over, picked up the slippery product  and  proceeded to remove the toe, which came out in 2-3 seconds without any damage to the cumbersome overshoe.

By this time people had gathered around and started to laugh at what had transpired. Some even made reference to Disney World, saying things like “what a Mickey Mouse” product!!”.  Another person mentioned that they tried the product once and it seems that when they put their foot and shoe inside one, it was fairly tight. What was worse, when they tried to remove their foot and shoe, lo and behold, the toe came out wrapped around the shoe. When the laughter subsided everyone went their way, to do their thing, but the important thing was that they had learned something about the quality or lack thereof of this defective product. As a safety product this overshoe lasted less than 1 hour.

We believe that Ratprick has been utilizing yet another nom de plume and leaving it with his amateurish comments on our blog. The scurrilous rascal signs his irrelevant comments with “Saint Patrick Himself”. How grandiose, now this pipsqueak is making a claim to sainthood. Let me tell you this Ratprick, you are no saint and Mrs. Ratprick  is no blessed virgin either!

Well, at no great expense, we did some research about the academic background of Ratprick and we believe that the following to be comments made by his teachers from grade 1 to grade 12 (where Ratprick spent 5 of his best years).

These then are the comments that we believe were made about Ratprick:

Grade 1 – Since my last report, Ratprick has reached rock bottom and has started to dig...

Grade 2 – I would not allow Ratprick to breed.

Grade 3 – Ratprick has delusions of adequacy.

Grade 4 – Ratprick is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot.

Grade 5 – Ratprick sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them.

Grade 6 – Ratprick has a “full six pack” but lacks the plastic thing to hold it all together.

Grade 7 – Ratprick has been working with glue too much.

Grade 8 – When Ratprick’s IQ reaches 50, he should sell.

Grade 9 – The gates are down, the lights are flashing, but the train isn’t coming.

Grade 10 – If Ratprick were any more stupid, he’d have to be watered twice a week.

Grade 11 – It’s impossible to believe that the sperm that created Ratprick beat out 1,000,000 others.

Grade 12 – The wheel is turning but the hamster is definitely dead.

Well, that’s it and I hope you have enjoyed our expose’.

Last but by no means least, we at Wilkuro would like to wish our American brothers a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!!! Enjoy!!!

Thought of the Day: Time is not recyclable, use it wisely.

May Update
By George Kuropas

May Update                                                            May 2010

Dear friends and associates, once again it is my pleasure to advise you that April was the 3rd.best volume month at Wilkuro Safety Toes Inc. Thank you very much for making this possible.

Another thing that we at Wilkuro are proud of is our commitment to dedicate a portion of our production to help non-profit groups such as food banks, volunteering groups for the elderly etc. We have provided toe protection for places like the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank,  Habitat for Humanity in Nova Scotia and several other places where toe protection was required for their volunteers.

Recently we received an email from the Executive Director of Hospice Caledon and if you don’t mind I would like to quote part of the communication:

“Wilkuro Safety Toes were invaluable in keeping our volunteers safe as they worked at the job site. The volunteers were able to move appliances, furniture and equipment into our new facility due to the generous donation of Wilkuro Safety Toes. Bethel House is a residential end of life care facility in Inglewood, Ontario which will be accepting residents as of May 3rd,2010. The volunteers allow

us to achieve our goals. Our many thanks go out to the owners, management and staff at Wilkuro for their very generous and thoughtful donation.”

While it is nice to make money and reap the benefits of doing so, I am sure that receiving an email such as this is spiritually far more gratifying, at least it is to Jack and me.

God bless all the volunteers of this world for all their wonderful, selfless work.

MICHIGAN SAFETY SHOW

Last month Jack attended the Safety Show in Lansing, Michigan and we would like to express our appreciation to Chris and Denny Swigert for the great job they did in displaying our product. It was indeed very interesting and educational.

While touring the Show, Jack came upon a Booth that believe it or not had a pair of our copycat’s overshoes tossed to the side. This is the copycat that due to his ineptness has not been able to correct a serious defect in his product, such as not integrating the steel toe to the product.

Jack approached the gentleman manning the booth ,  picked up the overshoes

and  proceeded to remove the toe. This took approximately 2-3 seconds to do so.

The gentleman at the booth stated that his company was aware that the toe was removable but that the owner of the company assured him that the toe would not come off when the shoe was inserted. What a pile of crap!! This guy should be arrested for impersonating a safety entrepreneur. Jack made the gentleman aware that OSHA and other safety bodies are adamant that the toe must be a permanent and integral part of the overshoe. The gentleman said he knew that but it was not his decision to carry this product, it was his “boss” that made the call.

We can only hope that this guy went back to his “boss” and related the event to him and how embarrassing it must have been for him to be shown how easily the toe came off in front of all the other attendees.

One last thing, the copycat claims durability of his product. This is irrelevant if the toe is not affixed to the overshoe. Furthermore, the clown claims that his product is twice as thick as the other overshoes. Well, if that’s the case, then he can not claim that his product is stretchy (which it isn’t) by any “stretch” of the imagination. The only thing he once again stretches is the truth.

In May we celebrate “5 de Mayo” (Mexico), Mother’s Day and Victoria Day (Canada), well to all, have a great day celebrating these days in a very safe and responsible way.

April Showers
By George Kuropas

APRIL SHOWERS

March was the second best month in terms of sales in the history of Wilkuro Safety Toes Inc. We thank you sincerely for your support and will continue to provide you with a top quality product for a long time to come. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Dear friends, we are now in the stretch to begin golfing in the great white North

which is Canada. After watching the Masters all I wanted to do is go out and hit a few balls at the driving range. You see, the golfing season here in Toronto is only about 7 months long or from mid April to mid November yet the courses have the nerve to sell you an annual membership. Furthermore it is becoming more and more expensive to play,  with prices ranging from  $75.00   at some of the low end courses up to $250.00 at the world famous Glen Abbey. Although I live within 150 yards of the entrance to Glen Abbey, I find it obscene to pay $250 for a round of golf so I have never played there. However it could be worse, as I read on the weekend, that to play Pebble Beach  costs $495.00 plus cart fees for just one round. Insane!

Talk about insane, my wannabe groupie, Ratprick M. Shyt, using yet another nom de plume wrote to me a couple of times inquiring as to how can a steel toe come off if you have your shoe inside the overshoe. I think that his range of stupidity just hit a new low. Obviously it won’t come out under those circumstances but it could easily twist and if hit from the side it could injure the foot easily. All Safety agencies clearly specify that the toe must be an integral part of the overshoe,  but I guess the copycat moron does not understand the meaning of “integral” nor by extension “integrity”, they seem foreign to him.  His core business is Bookkeeping,

as well as,  part time landscaping, sponsoring washed up musical groups from overseas and anything that will make him a buck, including selling defective steel toed overshoes. The pathetic pipsqueak also touts his product as 100% made in Canada. My question is, what part of Canada makes his steel toes?. Where does the synthetic “rubber” material come from?? So much for 100% Canadian.

He contracts out the making of his overshoes to a tool and die maker in Cambridge, Ontario. This is some 100Kms. or 60 miles from his Bookkeeping office. I am sure he stays on top of the manufacturer to ensure quality standards are met. NOT!!!

Wilkuro Safety Toes Inc. is an ISO Certified facility and as such, Jack and I personally assure the quality of our products.  When you call us , 99% of the time you will be greeted by one of our Customer Service specialists and not by the hated “at the sound of....please leave a message”. I guess I get so frustrated when I call a business and get the old familiar “your call is important to us, please stay on the line...etc” If my call is so important then provide sufficient staff to answer it a.s.a.p.. you dorks!! If you have the misfortune of calling this copycat then in all likelihood a message will greet you. He has to look after his other interests first. Safety concerns are last.

Our Reps from Targeting Customer Safety  informed us that the recent Safety Show in Ohio was a resounding success with hundreds of potential customers showing interest in the Wilkuro Safety Toe overshoe.  The Show was extremely well attended and many of the customers who saw our product for the first time commented on the practicality and simplicity  of using this product. Denny Swigert and his group advise us that they are confident that there will be many orders along shortly. Well done Denny and thank you!!!

By the way, I heard that our friend Ratprick has a reputation for being a tightwad.

Someone asked, “what  is the difference between Ratprick and a canoe?”

The answer was “a canoe tips”.

Once again, we are grateful for your support and rest assured that we will continue working to make sure you get full safety value for your money.

Painted Toes
By George Kuropas

PAINTED TOES                                               March 25,2010

Dear friends and associates, I feel the need to  correct some misinformation spewed by none other than Ratprick M. Shyt’s alter ego, the so called, self proclaimed, CEO of safety. In his desperate mood, he is saying that the painted toes of Wilkuro Safetytoes make the wearer look like a clown. In fact he shows a picture of a very close relative of his in a clown outfit. I guess now we have irrevocable proof of this pipsqueak’s ignorance in the field of Safety.

Let me explain what most of you true safety people already know.

The  painted toes have several purposes such as:

-         Lets the user immediately identify the size without going through a pile of overshoes.

-         To get a pair (right and left) all you do is pick up 3 Wilkuro Safetytoe overshoes of the same color and most of the time you’ll end up with a pair.

-         You can see from a distance of 100 feet or more if your employees or

visitors are wearing toe protection. Much easier to take corrective action.

As a matter of fact, if this ignoramus paid attention, he would note that most PPE is made with some sort of bright coloring. People working on the highways wear

highly visible, striped vests and jackets. Would you call them clowns? I think not!!

Policemen wear very visible vests while conducting traffic. Hunters even wear visible orange jackets without fear of being called clowns. Runners, bike riders etc. are all encouraged to wear bright coloring for Safety reasons.

Look in any Safety Catalogue and you’ll see a myriad of brightly colored items.

This moron does not understand the basic principle that “Safety begins with awareness” and to make fun of a safety item because it raises awareness is reprehensible. But then, what do you expect from this clown?

You cannot tell from a distance of 1 inch whether the wearer of his product is protected with a steel toe. This is exacerbated by the fact that the toe of his defective product is removable. Buy his product at your own risk, I guess.

BEWARE OF THE FINE INSURANCE PRINT

Something else has been bothering me about this copycat and that is the issue of Insurance. We , at Wilkuro Safetytoes pay premiums for several millions of dollars

of insurance in the improbable case that someone may get hurt while wearing our product. You see, the beauty of the Wilkuro Safetytoe is the fact that you can readily see the toe, as I previously explained. If the toe should come off (extremely rare in the Wilkuro Safetytoe) then the wearer and safety coordinator

can immediately take corrective action. But here is the caveat if you wear the copycat’s product. He encloses a User Information sheet that advises the wearer that if the toe  becomes loose or comes off , the wearer should immediately stop using  his product. Here is the rub, as his toe is “loosey goosey”covered by the synthetic rubber material, it can become loose at any time. If you should be injured because the toe shifted, the copycat could claim that it was YOUR responsibility or fault that you were injured as he had warned you to stop using the product if the toe became loose. Therefore no insurance. Problem is, you never know when the toe is loose or not. It’s a Catch 22 situation if there ever was one.

We at Wilkuro Safetytoes do not play dangerous games with people’s safety.

A product is either safe or it is not.  Ours is.

Isn’t it ironic that all this time that I have criticized the copycat for having a product with a loose toe, not once has he denied this. I guess he can’t since he claimed the toe was removable in a legal deposition of which we have copies.

Please be aware of what you are buying, if you buy the defective product you may not have a leg to stand on!(Pardon the literary irony)

If you have any comments, please write to me directly at gkuropas@wilkuro.com

Many thanks for your support.

March Madness
By George Kuropas

March Madness

Welcome to the Wilkuro monthly blog. Please excuse the delay but it was

unavoidable as I was on a very important course, better yet I was on several

lovely courses in the Mecca of Golf known as Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

I have a regular posse of golf fanatics and we make the pilgrimage every March

to get away from the cold and snow and partake in a few rounds of golf and sample the culinary delicacies such as pizza, chicken wings and chimichangas along with some frothy liquids ( for digestive purposes only). Of course, I do not arrange for a physical with my Doctor until at least 8 weeks after this trip at which time the contrary effects of my diet should have worn away.

I suppose there is more to life than just working and the pursuit of money. Case in point, some of our copycats even take their sub standard wares (Toes come off easily) on their overseas trips. How sad!! Go and enjoy yourself!!!

My golfing brothers and I really look forward to each March  and every  year we choose courses we really enjoy, like The Heritage and TPC and then try some new ones. This year we found a real jewel next door to The Heritage and it was Caledonia Golf ands Fishing Club. A real test of golf and a joy to behold. We’ll

return here next year, the Good Lord willing, even though we had to surrender some balls as they were lying too close to the friendly neighbourhood alligators.

Back to reality. February was a super month for Wilkuro and it looks like March is going to be even better. Our North American sales are climbing steadily but what is truly gratifying are our International sales as we had orders from Chile, Brazil,

The Dominican Republic and increased sales from our representatives in Holland and the U.K. .. Being fully fluent in Spanish is a big plus for us as we can communicate with our Latino brothers in the language of their choice.

I would be remiss if I didn’t  thank all our customers (anywhere in the world) for their continued support. We truly appreciate you!!

A so called marketing “genius” once remarked that you don’t have to be the best, but just to be the first. We at Wilkuro, in all humility, truly believe that we are not only the first but our product is the best and anyone that wants to challenge this should be aware that we have had our copycat’s products independently tested and received official documentation of these tests. In brief, one copycat failed miserably as the toe became dislodged during testing and the other copycat that uses 100% rubber is extremely slippery. These are just documented facts and nothing else.

Finally, we would like to wish all our good and honest Irish friends a Very Happy

St. Patrick’s Day and let me say this,  when the good Saint chased the snakes off the island he couldn’t have known that some of them would appear in North America. All the best to some of the best people in the world.
