Wilkuro Safety Toes Upgrades to PVC Overshoe

Toronto, Ontario, December 7th, 2006—Wilkuro Safety Toes, a provider of temporary toe protection, announced today that it has upgraded its product line to use an injection molded Polyvinyl Chloride boot as an integral part of its safety overshoe to improve product life and expand its uses.

The switch to PVC ultimately replaces the use of 100 per cent vulcanized rubber boots. Wilkuro has continuously and comprehensively tested its products to meet and exceed required international safety standards. Market and quality testing has shown the new PVC overshoe to provide a stronger, more durable and slip-resistant Wilkuro Safety Toe, which is also acid, oil and animal fat resistant.

According to Operations Manager, George Kuropas, “PVC is capable of coming into contact with a variety of chemicals without undergoing any significant changes in composition or properties. It remains strong and durable, even under changing temperatures and conditions. This resilience will allow Wilkuro Safety Toes to consistently function for extended periods of time.” He added, “Out of 135 standard chemicals tested, the Wilkuro PVC overshoe consistently outperformed comparable rubber overshoes. PVC achieved excellent or good scores for chemical resistance in 92 instances compared to 48 instances for rubber—a 192 per cent improvement.”

“The original Wilkuro design with the visible, yet fully-integrated, colour-coded toe cap has not changed,” says John Wilson, Sales Manager. “The company has taken a lot of care in the decision to upgrade the overshoe material to PVC but was careful not to alter its trademark design in any way.”
